Atletico face fine and stadium closure on 'Griezmann die' chants (Cope)

Atletico Madrid face a fine and stadium closure relating to chants directed at Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann, say Cadena Cope.

Fans of Los Rojiblancos chanted ‘Griezmann die’ towards the former forward, who joined their La Liga titles rivals this summer - and although a stadium closure is unlikely, it is a possibility.

The French forward returned to the Wanda Metropolitano for the first time on Sunday with Barcelona and as predicted he, received a frosty reception from the home fans.

Griezmann never enjoyed a particularly warm relationship with Atleti fans and the manner of his departure this summer has been criticised by people linked to the Madrid club.

That meant he already had his heart set on a departure from Los Rojiblancos two months before the end of the season, and when they were still involved in the Champions League and La Liga title race last season.
