Atletico is the 3rd team to exclude Barca twice in a season's cup competitions

In the Champions League quarter-finals, Atletico Madrid eliminated Barcelona 3-2 on aggregate over two legs, becoming the third team to defeat Barcelona twice in cup competitions in a single season.

This season, Atletico Madrid, coached by Simeone, first defeated Barcelona 4-0 in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final, and although they lost the second leg 0-3, they still advanced with a 4-3 aggregate score; then in the Champions League quarter-final, they won the first leg 2-0 and lost the second leg 1-2, but ultimately eliminated Barcelona with a 3-2 on aggregate, becoming the latest team to win two two-legged encounters against Barcelona in a single season.

The previous teams to achieve this record were Valencia, coached by Cooper in the 1999-2000 season, and Real Madrid, coached by Mourinho in the 2012-13 season.

Valencia, coached by Cooper, first defeated Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate in the 1999 Spanish Super Cup with scores of 1-0 and 3-3 over two legs, and then in the 1999-2000 Champions League semi-finals, eliminated Barcelona 5-3 on aggregate with scores of 4-1 and 1-2.

Real Madrid, coached by Mourinho, defeated Barcelona in the 2012 Spanish Super Cup with a 4-4 aggregate score, 2-3 in the first leg and 2-1 in the second leg, prevailing on away goals, and then in the 2012-13 Copa del Rey semi-final, they eliminated Barcelona 4-2 on aggregate with scores of 1-1 in the first leg and 3-1 in the second leg.
