Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has expressed his satisfaction at completing the signing of Marcos Llorente from Real Madrid.
Llorente will swap the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu for the Wanda Metropolitano next season after his 40 million euro move.
"At 24 years old, he has a magnificent career path," Cerezo said at the midfielder's presentation. "He was a key player at 21 at Alaves and played in a Copa del Rey final."
"He was the best tackler in LaLiga and a fixture in the [Spain] Under-21s. He's among a number of magnificent sportsmen who have guided themselves down the path of effort and sacrifice to fulfil their dream of being a professional footballer."
Llorente is able to play in a number of positions in midfield and Cerezo is happy to have such a versatile player at the club.
"He's a controlling midfielder who also has the ability to play at the back," the president said.
"He has good anticipation and intuition, arrives forward, has a good strike and can score goals. He is, without doubt, an excellent signing."
Cerezo went on to address his new signing ahead of joining Diego Simeone's squad.
"He's an extraordinary signing with a big presence and a promising future. We expect the best, but we know that you will give your all.
"We go into this season with changes in the squad and a very big challenge. You have all our support.
"You know the fans will be committed to you, all we ask is effort and sacrifice."

Wtf not only is it professionally fucked up, but even personally, the guy loves Madrid why would he go to Atletico of the whole world.

he probably wanted play time and to stay local

He has an atypical skill set. It's why he pulls those bangers from 30 out, nobody sees them coming. He also avoids a second booking better than anyone in the game. But I do love the guy and how he conducts himself, almost always smiles at the end of the game.

So weird. He was better than casemiro all season. And the only other real dm RM has.

morata is also there. he's a madridista alright but he isn't getting chances with us. since they won the league atletico are a very good destination, particularly for defensive players. he could go somewhere else, sure, but they're undeniably a very attractive destination, especially if he values staying in spain, hell staying in madrid. despite atletico beating us here and there we still aren't much bothered by them, they're nowhere near a nuisance as barcelona are, the hate is mostly one way.

Madrid knows that strong Atleti would mean healthy rivalry and raise interest. We all need strong Atleti to keep La Liga Interesting especially if he goes for 50 milkas. In another note this might bring the clubs relations closer even though they are our arch rivals

Almost everyone was trash this season. Casemiro is on a level Llorente could very well never achieve. Casemiro is a beast

In my opinion this could be a great move for the three parts involved; I believe Llorente would be more suitable to Atlético's way of playing and to Simeone's style, Atlético would get a potentially great midfielder, and Real should definitely use this move as a way to get Rodri in a friendly providing a great replacement.

Rodri is better defensively

He’s not finding time and it looks as though he may not next season as well. Can’t keep looking at Llorente as an up and coming youngster when he’ll be 25 this season. He needs minutes and in the limited time he has gotten he has shown that he may be capable of putting in full shifts for a big team. I would hate to lose him just like the next guy because I have been so happy with him every time he has played but I understand it from his point of view.

He’s going to another rival of Barca. This is nothing to be happy about

Why wouldn’t they be a rival when they finished above them in back to back seasons. Also Llorente has never had consistent play time at Real and 30-35m is a lot.

Tbf, Flo is quite fair and not petty. Dudes family is from Madrid so he prolly just wanted to stay local

Hardly entices young players to Madrid if he's not going to let them play and then not let them have a say in where they go

Tomorrow will be reported that Madrid was actually the one paying 30M to Atletico.

A player who often doesn't even make Real's bench for 40m is not a bargain. As for the selling to rival, he probably wanted to be a starter and only Atletico promised him that

Cause they are letting go of a player who doesn' wanna be there? Next season will be extremely tough for atleti but Llorente isn't the worst replacement for rodri.
