Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo denied having heard any chants towards Antoine Griezmann in his side's 1-0 home defeat to Barcelona, but wished for abusive songs to end.
The Frenchman made his first return to the Wanda Metropolitano on Sunday since his controversial move to Barcelona in the summer.
Griezmann was on the receiving end from some unpleasant words from his former supporters, something which the president of the club was not best pleased about.
"I didn't hear those chants towards Griezmann," Cerezo told El Transistor.
"Such insults at stadiums need to be eradicated.
"Griezmann always lived up to the circumstances [while at the club] and both me and the rest of the Atletico supporters wish him the best and to be as happy as he was at Atletico Madrid."
On the field, Atletico are going through a tough spell of form, with just one win in their last seven in all competitions.
"You have to be consistent and see that there are three or four games in which things have not come off, but nor do we need to panic about this," Cerezo said.
"There are many new players, they are adjusting, but we are only two games away from the top of the league."

Given the acrimonious manner he handled Griezmann's departure to Barcelona it is not surprising that he buried his head in sand and pretended not to have heard the abuse the fans were directing at Griezmann. At his age and status in Spanish football he has to be better than the ridiculous words he uttered, Atletico deserve a better "Commander in Chief!"
