A Ballon d'Or winner has revealed that he is open to being the new assistant coach for Brazil.

The former Brazil star has previous experience of working under Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti, whose time in charge of Real Madrid is drawing to a close, will officially take charge of Brazil next week.

It will be the first international job of Ancelotti's trophy-laden career.

Ancelotti will be tasked with attempting to guide Brazil to glory at the 2026 World Cup.

There have been suggestions that he could ask a high-profile former player to be part of his coaching staff.

Kaka, who won the Ballon d'Or in 2007, admitted that he is interested in potentially joining the Brazil coaching staff.

During his time as a player, Kaka made 92 appearances and scored 29 goals on the international stage. He was a fringe member of the Brazil squad that won the 2002 World Cup, while he won the Confederations Cup in 2005 and 2009.

The 43-year-old believes he possesses experience which could be of great use to Brazil.

Kaka told Caze TV: 'If the team thinks I can help in some way, I think that, at this moment, I am ready. I am prepared.

'I stopped playing in 2017. Since then, I have wanted to prepare myself. I took sports business courses at Harvard in the United States, I took a coaching course at the CBF, I have experience with the national team, the World Cup. If the opportunity arises, I am ready to return to serve the Brazilian national team.'

Kaka previously played under Ancelotti at AC Milan between 2003 and 2009, winning the Serie A title in 2003-04 and the Champions League in 2006-07.

In total, Kaka played under Ancelotti 270 times - the most of any coach in his career.

By taking charge of Brazil Ancelotti is succeeding Dorival Junior, who was sacked in March after just over a year in charge.

Brazil were knocked out of the World Cup at the quarter-finals stage in the last two tournaments.

They have won the World Cup five times - more than any other nation.
