Barça obtains permission to reopen Camp Nou with a capacity of 27,000 people

'Què t'hi Jugues!' assures that Barça will continue playing at Montjuic and is awaiting the Phase 1B license to return with 45,000 spectators.

FC Barcelona received this Friday the initial occupancy permit for Phase 1A of the Spotify Camp Nou renovation, allowing it to reopen the stadium with a provisional capacity of 27,000, according to Barcelona City Council's announcement to Què t'hi Jugues!.

This does not mean that the Catalan club will immediately return to the venue located in the Les Corts neighborhood. In fact, according to SER (Spanish radio station), Barça will continue to play at Montjuïc and will await the Phase 1B permit to return with 45,000 spectators. The club confirmed on October 7 that it is working toward that goal to return to the Spotify Camp Nou.

Barcelona indicated that this objective is based on the fact that the delay in obtaining the 1A license has placed its approval very close to that of the 1B license. The capacity of the Lluís Companys Stadium allows for greater revenue generation, offsetting the revenue obtained from matches previously played at the Johan Cruyff Stadium. This also allows for more time to conduct operational tests.

The Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium was the venue for the Blaugrana first team's home matches in the last two seasons (2023-24 and 2024-25), and this season it has hosted matches against Real Sociedad and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Catalunya club has also confirmed that the Olympic venue will host its next two home matches: on Saturday, October 18, against Girona in LaLiga and on Tuesday, October 21, against Olympiacos in the Champions League.

Barcelona's next home matches will be on Sunday, November 2nd against Elche, the weekend of November 22nd and 23rd against Athletic Club, and the weekend of November 29th and 30th against Alavés; all of them in LaLiga, with a venue yet to be confirmed.
