Barca’s Robert Lewandowski injured: what is the injury? How long is he out for?

The Polish striker was forced off during Barcelona’s narrow win over Porto in the Champions League. Here is the latest update.

FC Barcelona forward, Robert Lewandowski, was forced off injured against Porto in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

The Catalan side overcame their Portuguese opponents 0-1 away from home, thanks to a goal from Ferran Torres on the stroke of half-time. In what was the hardest game on paper for Barça in a relatively kind group, the side battled through a tough 90 minutes and got the victory, but the bad news had already arrived when star forward Lewandowski went down after a challenge after around half an hour.

He tried to hobble on, but it was not to be for the 35-year-old, and he was replaced shortly after by the eventual goalscorer.

What injury does Robert Lewandowski have?

Until tests have been carried out to determine the full extent of the injury, Lewandowski’s injury cannot be confirmed. The player will presumably undergo medical examination in the next 24 hours. However, the initial suspicions are that he has suffered a blow to his tibia, and the signs are positive.

When will Robert Lewandowski be back fit for Barcelona?

He was able to continue for a short while before asking for the change, and made his way down the tunnel himself without aid from the doctors. He currently has a swelling and a bruise but it is not expected that he miss the game on Sunday against Granada.

However, Lewandowski is added to the list of injured at Barcelona that already includes Pedri, Raphinha and Frenkie De Jong.
