Barca 'bet for the future of Matheus Fernandes' who set for another loan

Barça signed the Brazilian midfielder last January and gave him to Valladolid.

2 years ago, coinciding with the arrival of Eric Abidal to the technical secretariat of FC Barcelona, Barça changed much of its strategy in the signing policy.

Barça decided to bet on young values. In January 2019 he signed the Brazilian side Emerson of Atletico Mineiro for 12 million euros - six of them were put by Betis - and gave it directly to Betis until June 2021. Last summer they signed Pedri, the jewel of UD Las Palmas, for only five million in exchange for leaving him on loan for another year in the island team. And this past January Barca bet on the pearl of Portuguese football, Trincao, currently in Braga, in exchange for 31 million and Matheus Fernandes, midfielder of Palmeiras, which cost 7 million.

As with Emerson, with the intention that he can continue his progression, add minutes and adapt to the Spanish league, Barça chose to give Matheus to Real Valladolid until next 30 June. Due to the fact that the last day of the market arrived, and that it needed a time of acclimatization, Matheus has not yet been able to make his debut with the Vallisoletano team after the state of alarm was decreed throughout the country on 15 March as a result of COVID-19.

Faced with this scenario, and considering that he is only 21 years old - June 30 will turn 22-, Barça has in mind to give one more season to Matheus Fernandes - Valladolid himself has already been ready to have it another year - so that he can continue to train before making the final leap to Barcelona.
