Xavi Hernandez has not stopped making important decisions since taking over as Barcelona's new coach. In fact, he started planning his structure long ago. One month ago, former technical secretary Ramon Planes re-activated the option to sign Donny van de Beek from Manchester United. The Dutch midfielder was previously targetted by the club when he played at Ajax. That was when talks first took place with his camp.
This time, Planes got in touch with the player to find out about his situation at United. Van de Beek has not had many minutes at Old Trafford and would be delighted to move to Camp Nou. However, from there, the option was translated to Xavi Hernandez, who rejected the chance to sign him assuring he doesn't need midfielders.
It was a clear message for the players Barça have in that position that he has faith in them. Both in terms of the veterans (Busquets), the established (Frenkie de Jong) and the youngsters like Pedri, Nico, Gavi and Riqui Puig.

no need to be harsh, Busi is getting older and we need a player who can play in Defensive mid position. Frankie de jong is good but he now playing good as box to box midfielder. all the youngsters like Pedri,Puig,Gavi and Nico are attack minded and none are physically good to defend against physical teams. if pique and busi are not in the team..then only araujo is a tall player defending corners.
