According to the Catalunya Ràdio podcast show Barça reservat, Barcelona had previously considered making the digital bank Revolut its new financial sponsor, but the club ultimately rejected the proposal because former Barça player Luis Figo became the spokesperson for the brand's new advertising campaign.
Barcelona is currently looking for a new financial sponsor. CaixaBank has long served in this role, but the contract between the two parties expired more than a year ago and has not yet been renewed, although relevant negotiations are still ongoing. In the meantime, over the past few months, Barcelona had considered bringing in the digital bank Revolut as a new sponsor.
According to the Catalunya Ràdio podcast, Barcelona ultimately abandoned this option, not due to economic factors, but for emotional reasons. Former Barcelona player Luis Figo became the spokesperson for Revolut's latest advertising campaign. Not only that, but the Portuguese even mentioned his transfer to Real Madrid in 2000 in the related advertisements. This greatly displeased Barcelona, and the club ultimately rejected Revolut's sponsorship proposal.

Figo is an Academy boy of Barcelona just like Messi, Xavi, Inesta, Puyol, Yamal etc. By law you must reach 18 yrs before you can sign a professional contract then. Exposing Academy boy to first team earlier is Barcelona style. Figo was exposed to it as for every boys and waiting as they waited to sign contract at 18 yrs. When luis Figo reaches 18 yrs, He didn’t come to training and did not pickup is phone call. Only for Barcelona management to see that, he is wearing Real Madrid Jersey playing. He is the reason why New rules of signing Academy boy was made by FIFA. A baby was nurture from birth only to reach Adulthood, the first thing he did was to erase his/her Adopted Parent and never meet again. Alvarez is an Adult that enter Europe for Business. No teaches or trained him in Europe. He make money for himself, his country, formal club that trained him as baby and his agent. He has an agent team around him already.
Figo never plays for Barcelona’s academy, he was signed from sporting in 1995 at the age of 22, and went straight to the first team. He never passed through La Masai like in the case of Xabi, Inesta etc.
