Real Madrid came out on top in El Clasico on Saturday, although there were a number of good performances from Barcelona players that could have swung the game in the other direction.
Lionel Messi touched the ball more than anyone in the first half, and Ansu Fati got on the score sheet once again.
However, Real Madrid's stalwart captain Sergio Ramos got them the win, backed up by an impressive performance from fellow veteran Toni Kroos. Here's how the rest of the players stacked up.
BARCELONA
Neto 7
The Barcelona goalkeeper made some good saves but was beaten three times during the game.
Sergino Dest 7
Very impressive in his first Clasico. Vital block in the first half to stop Casemiro shooting. Got forward well too.
Gerard Pique 6.5
No heroics in the Madrid area this time. Defended well enough but he has had better Clasicos
Clement Lenglet 6.5
Very impressive apart from one slip and it cost Barcelona the game. In the VAR era you can’t grab shirts in the box.
Jordi Alba 7
Excellent considering he was coming back from injury. Made the first goal with trademark overlap and cross.
Frenkie De Jong 6.5
Decent display but not able to win the midfield battle against the impressive Real Madrid players.
Sergio Busquets 6
Not able to stop the run of Valverde that opened the scoring in just the fifth minute of the game.
Pedri 6.5
Played out of position on the wing. Tidy and linked with Messi in first half.
Lionel Messi 8
Touched the ball more than anyone in the first half. Did not deserve to lose 3-1.
Philippe Coutinho 6.5
Not his best game so far this season. Put a header into side netting from fine Ansu cross.
Ansu Fati 8
Looked more comfortable as false nine than Messi has done of late. Took his goal well. Always a threat.

Antoine Griezmann 5
Ousmane Dembele 5
Francisco Trincao 5
REAL MADRID
Thibaut Courtois 7
Vital save in the first half from Messi that kept his side from going behind.
Nacho 6
Should have been booked for foul on Messi. Involved in goal. Went off injured.
Sergio Ramos 7
Won penalty and scored penalty. Madrid much better when he is there.
Raphael Varane 6.5
Occasionally rattled but held up okay against the potent Barcelona attacking force.
Ferland Mendy 6.5
Defended well enough without creating attacking threat.
Federico Valverde 7
Burst through to open scoring. Went off feeling dizzy in the second half.
Casemiro 7
He got booked in first half, but the Brazilian midfielder looked back to his best.
Toni Kroos 8
Outstanding. Set up Benzema in first half and might have scored himself in second period.
Vinicius Jr 6
Disappointing. The youngster never really caused problems for Barcelona during the game.
Karim Benzema 7
Led the line with intelligence as always.
Marco Asensio 6.5
Some bright moments but should have tracked Alba for the first Barcelona goal.

Luka Modric 7
Rodrygo 6.5

The quietness of the usually noisy Barcelona fans on social media tonight is proudly sponsored by captain Sergio Ramos!

Messi was so bad the entire game, please don't harm his reputation by rating him even when he doesn't perform, people new to football will think this has been the case always, same happened with pele
