Barcelona 6-1 Alaves: Yamal & Raphinha brace bring Flick's side back to winning way

After consecutive defeats to Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, FC Barcelona returned to winning ways in spectacular fashion, sweeping Deportivo Alavés aside 6-1 at Spotify Camp Nou.

Match Report

Raphinha struck twice, Lamine Yamal added another double, and Fermín López and Anthony Gordon also got on the scoresheet as Hansi Flick's side rediscovered their attacking magic to remain top of the league.

It was just the response the team needed after the disappointment of the Clásico, which had brought their run of nine consecutive league victories to an end. And with six players unavailable, including four defenders, Flick had to improvise at the back, handing Brian Fariñas his first-team debut at right-back and deploying Frenkie de Jong alongside Pau Cubarsí in central defence.

But there was nothing makeshift about the performance. Barça were irresistible going forward, scoring four times before the break and adding two more in the second half to delight the 53,523 spectators.
