Barcelona: Spanish press bemoan 'ANOTHER fiasco' in the LaLiga title race

Barcelona's collapse against Levante was described as 'a fiasco' and a performance 'without character' as Spain's front pages damned Ronald Koeman's title chasers.

A two-goal lead evaporated and Lionel Messi and Co eventually missed the chance to go top of LaLiga after they departed with one point, instead of three, against Levante.

It was a huge opportunity missed and in the eyes of Marca it was yet 'another fiasco' from Koeman's side with the pressure on.

Barcelona appear to have run out of steam at the worst possible time having won just one of their last four LaLiga matches during the run-in.

As well as the draw with Levante, Barcelona were beaten at home by Granada as well as being held 0-0 at the Nou Camp by Atletico.

For Marca, they talked up the 'Final to Final' approach that this thrilling four-team title race has thrown up as leaders Atletico take on Real Sociedad this evening, able to open up a four-point gap on Barcelona with two games remaining.

Diario AS used a photo of a frustrated Messi on their cover with the headline 'One Less' in reference to yet another missed opportunity to seize control.

It was, in the eyes of the Spanish press, a 'great chance' wasted by Koeman and his players.

Sport's front page went with an angry Koeman and the accusation that they have now 'thrown LaLiga' with the draw down in Valencia against Levante.

Mundo Deportivo feel that Barcelona's hopes of a title are now killed off - barring a 'miracle' collapse from rivals Atletico and Real Madrid.

'Full Stop,' read the headline on Wednesday's front cover.

Barcelona were 'without character' according to Mundo Deportivo and midfielder Sergio Busquets, who has won eight LaLiga titles at the club, was inclined to agree.

'We don't have much of a chance now,' Busquets told Spanish TV station Movistar.

'It will depend on our rivals, but this is our own fault, [bad] decisions, a lack of concentration. We concede goals too easily.

'We don't feel good because it was always going to be difficult, but we wanted to put pressure on those at the top. We had the lead, but as has happened this season, [Levante] scored goals too easily.

'The point doesn't mean much because that's the league practically over for us. We've dropped too many points to fight for the title.'

What this means for Koeman is now unclear.

The Dutchman had talked in recent weeks about staying at Barcelona next season but this latest collapse has brought his future into sharp focus.

On Monday he suggested his position is safe to see out the second year of his two-year contract but the draw with Levante raises doubts over his capabilities to take this squad to a title.

'As a coach you are the most responsible,' the ex-Southampton and Everton boss conceded after the 3-3 draw.

'Coaches are always questioned. I understand that questions are being asked. I understand perfectly. We are very disappointed with the result.'

Messi's superb volley was added to by Pedri, only for Gonzalo Melero and Jose Morales to draw Levante level before Ousmane Dembele and Sergio Leon traded goals to wrap it up at 3-3.
