Barcelona consider defensive shake-up as Laporte and Cristian Romero offer themselves

According to the latest report from "Sport", Barcelona may adjust their defense if opportunities arise in the coming weeks, as they have received self-recommendations from Cristian Romero and Laporte.

Reportedly, if the transfer market is favorable in the coming weeks, Barcelona have not ruled out adjusting their defense. The club are considering signing Laporte and Cristian Romero, both of whom are very eager to join.

According to Romano, Cristian Romero has decided to leave Tottenham this summer and has informed the club of his decision. He is currently waiting for a suitable offer, with his first choice being a move to Barcelona, who contacted him before the World Cup.

However, Barcelona need to sell some defenders first to complete this deal. Cristian Romero has also attracted interest from Inter, but his departure appears likely to be postponed until August.

Cristian Romero is highly appreciated by Deco and Flick, with Flick ultimately choosing him over Bastoni as a transfer target. The two sides initially held talks in London, but Barcelona had already signed Gordon and Adeyemi and had focused their investment on offense.

As a result, their negotiations have stalled. Barcelona's key transfer priorities now remain signing a starting striker and perhaps a second striker if Ferran Torres leaves.

Barcelona have not ruled out signing a center-back, but Cristian Romero's transfer would require someone to leave the team, especially to make room in the wage bill, as the deal could be very costly.

Tottenham are willing to let him go, but they are asking for around 50 million euros. Unless Barcelona sell a defender, they are unlikely to agree to such terms. With Christensen's contract extension, Barcelona currently have five center-backs, but anything is possible.

Cristian Romero is willing to push for negotiations over a loan with a mandatory purchase option, which might be considered. Inter is also trying a similar strategy as they are very interested in signing Cristian Romero.

Laporte's situation is different; his release clause is lower, and Barcelona are studying how he would fit into the team. They rate him highly, and he showed excellent chemistry with Cubarsi during the World Cup.

The club is taking steps to advance his transfer, which is considered a highly attractive opportunity to strengthen the team's defence. His left-footedness makes him even more valuable, although Flick remains confident in Gerard Martin's development in that position.

Barcelona also realize that the season is long and the defense could undergo many changes. Their plan is for Eric Garcia to play many games at right-back, while they also need to assess Christensen's physical condition this season.

Araujo is another player under consideration. The club is willing to listen to offers from other teams, but all indications are that, after renewing his contract with Barcelona, the Uruguayan international is unlikely to leave.
