Barcelona were knocked out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage last season as a result of a late goal by Roma's Greek defender Konstantinos Manolas, who was warmly welcomed to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night.
Roma were taking on Real Madrid in their first match of the new European campaign and the Spanish club's fans applauded the defender as he came out to warm up and then cheered his name when it was read out ahead of kick-off.
Manolas had admitted he knew something like this could happen in an interview with MARCA earlier this week.
Once the ball got rolling, though, the home fans only had support for their own players.
