According to ESPN reporter Moil Lorens, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu is going to meet with Barcelona's captains to address the situation with the PR company scandal involving the club.

The goal of the meeting is to calm down the players, who might have been strongly affected by the news, and try to convince them that the club's leadership have nothing to do with the matter.

With a difficult schedule ahead (the Champions League's last 16, El Clasico), the president more than ever depends on the players to deliver good results.

According to Ser Catalunya, FC Barcelona have paid almost €1m to hire multiple social media accounts to 'protect the reputation of Josep Maria Bartomeu' and 'erode the image of ex-players, election candidates, etc', as the source puts it.

These so-called 'social media influencers' are working for the PR company I3 Ventures. Ser Catalunya mentions 'dozens of accounts' on both Facebook and Twitter. Marca believe their number is close to 100.

They are allegedly trying to provoke the audience by discussing such controversial subjects as Leo Messi's new contract, Gerard Pique's off-field business activities and other current squad issues.

So far, both Barcelona and I3 Ventures strongly deny any affiliation between each other.
