Jude Bellingham nearly took the new roof off the refurbished Bernabeu with a 94th-minute winner that left the Real Madrid fans serenading him with a version of Hey Jude.

‘It was the loudest moment I think I’ve had in a stadium when my goal went in. And then when they were singing Hey Jude at the end, I just wanted to turn and listen to it. My legs were shaking,’ said the England midfielder, 20.

The headline in Diario AS read, ‘Bellingham is Real Madrid’s silver bullet’, after he scored from close range against Getafe, pouncing on the rebound when Lucas Vazquez’s shot was saved.

It completed Madrid’s comeback and maintained their 100 per cent record at the top of La Liga. Joselu had earlier equalised following Borja Mayoral’s first-half opener.

Bellingham now has five goals and is the first player since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009 to score in his first four La Liga games for Real Madrid.

‘I looked at my team-mates and saw they were not worried about the scoreline,’ said Bellingham of Madrid’s late comeback.

‘I was brought in for these moments and they are moments when I feel I can deliver. I’ve got to keep doing it and make sure the fans go home happy.’

Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti reflected on Bellingham’s perfect start, saying: ‘His level doesn’t really come as any surprise. He can get 15 goals this season without any problem.’

Beaten Getafe boss Jose Bordalas refused to discuss the controversy surrounding his club’s signing of Mason Greenwood.

‘It is too delicate a situation to trivialise the issue,’ he said of the Manchester United loanee. ‘I prefer to talk about football. The authorities did what they had to do and he was acquitted.’
