Benzema returns to squad for Shakhtar clash

Karim Benzema is back in the Real Madrid squad for the Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday, after being rested for the weekend's LaLiga Santander win over Elche.

With three points of maximum importance for Los Blancos, Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping that his No.9 can guide them to victory in what is likely to be a tricky encounter.

Despite the Frenchman's return, Real Madrid will be without numerous players for the game at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Gareth Bale, Mariano Diaz, Rodrygo Goes, Fede Valverde and Dani Ceballos are all ruled out through injury.

Ancelotti oversaw Tuesday's training at Valdebebas, as the players took part in rondo sessions, physical work, possession drills and tactical exercises, followed by a practice match.
