Bernd Schuster: Real Madrid's defence has helped others

Real Madrid's Champions League campaign has started poorly, there's no getting away from that, although the 3-2 victory over Inter brought a welcome three points, yet their defensive fragility showed once more on Tuesday, with Bernd Schuster even going as far as saying it has helped the other teams.

In the opening three group matches this term, Los Merengues have conceded seven goals, with Shakhtar Donetsk and Borussia Monchengladbach both enjoying excellent moments against the Spanish giants.

"Today Real Madrid had to win, but their defence has given many opportunities to their opponents," Schuster explained in an interview with Onda Cero.

"The group has three teams and they have conceded eight goals."

With speculation over the disagreement between Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr having been put to rest, the former Real Madrid coach dismissed the issue entirely.

"You shouldn't take those kinds of comments from Benzema to Vinicius Jr very seriously," Schuster added.

"These things can be said in a game and it means nothing. On the other hand, I don't think it has impacted Vinicius Jr."
