According to Spanish media outlet mundobetis, Real Betis could receive up to approximately £20,000 per day in compensation due to Ez Abde's injury.
Abde reportedly sustained an injury last Sunday during a friendly match between Morocco and Norway, which will rule him out of the FIFA World Cup and potentially sideline him for at least four weeks. In this situation, FIFA will be obligated to pay Real Betis compensation as stipulated by its Club Protection Programme.
The program provides up to £20,548 per day in compensation for football players injured while representing their national teams on FIFA match days, with a maximum compensation of £7.5 million per player, as is the case with Abde's injury in the friendly match between Morocco and Norway last Sunday.
To receive compensation, the player must be absent for at least 28 consecutive days, which is the situation with Abde, leading the coach to ultimately decide to replace him in the Moroccan national team with other players.
FIFA plans to pay clubs participating in the FIFA World Cup approximately $5,000 per player per day, so the compensation Real Betis receives due to Abde's injury will be significantly higher than if he had played. Of course, if Abde, who is in excellent form, had performed well, his market value might have significantly increased, prompting clubs to pay his €60 million release clause, but this now seems unlikely after the injury.
