The Old Lady have bolstered their defensive options by bringing in the 19-year-old centre back as well as re-signing Gianluigi Buffon from PSG

Matthijs de Ligt has completed his €75 million (£68m) move from Ajax to Juventus. The 19-year-old is the latest member of the Dutch side to seal a big money transfer away from the Eredivisie side.

bet365 make Juve a 10/1 (11.0) chance in their latest Champions League odds. Now under the stewardship of Maurizio Sarri, the Serie A holders have also brought Gianluigi Buffon back to the Allianz Stadium after a year with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Old Lady have dominated the Italian domestic landscape since 2008, winning eight consecutive Scudettos.

At just 8/15 (1.53) they're expected to extend that streak in the upcoming campaign with Inter and Napoli seen as their nearest competition, both available at 5/1 (6.0).

European success though, has proved a tougher task for Juve in recent years, although they've finished as runners up twice in the last five editions of the Champions League.

The addition of the tournament’s all-time leading scorer Cristiano Ronaldo saw punters put their faith in a first title since 1996 last season, backing Juventus into joint second favourites at 6/1 (7.0) before the competition got underway.

That gamble was ultimately foiled though, thanks to a quarter final exit against De Ligt's former club, Ajax.

Despite several eye-catching acquisitions, Juventus sit sixth in the betting for this season's Champions League, level with Bayern Munich at 10/1 (11.0). That price on Juve is a joint-best in the industry at the time of writing.

Manchester City are favourites once again, priced at 4/1 (5.0) although European silverware has continued to elude Pep Guardiola's side despite a domestic treble last term.

Barcelona can be backed at 13/2 (7.50) with bet365 who are 7/1 (8.0) about Liverpool defending their Champions League crown.

Real Madrid and PSG are both 8/1 (9.0) in the latest outright odds with the online bookmaker.

While Andrea Barzagli has retired, Sarri’s side have moved quickly to bolster their defensive options. Having also brought in Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey on free transfers, some punters will surely be tempted to back Ronaldo to lead the Old Lady to a first European crown in 24 years at 10/1 (11.0).
