Abelardo's side have outperformed expectations in La Liga this term and they look good value to secure another three points at home on Monday night

Barcelona may be looking well-set for another La Liga title but there have been plenty of other talking points in the Spanish top-flight this season.

One of the most eye-catching is the form of Alaves. From a 14th place finish last term, the Basque side are sitting fifth after 20 matches of the current campaign.

888Sport go 23/20 (2.15) that Abelardo's men close the gap to the top four places to just a single point with a win against Rayo Vallecano on Monday night.

Vallecano for their part are 12/5 (3.40) to secure a much-needed three points that would move them out of the relegation zone.

It's tough to put any faith in the away side here though, having seen them take just seven points from their nine away games so far. Just one of those matches ended all square and the same firm go 9/4 (3.25) about a draw in this one.

Much of the success that the hosts have had this season has come at Estadio de Mendizorroza and that odds-against quote could prove a worthwhile wager once more.

At this venue Alaves have yet to lose a league game this term. They've racked up 19 points in just nine outings including victories over Real Madrid and Valencia.

A staunch backline has underpinned that impressive run - Alaves have conceded just six times at home so far and Vallecano are unlikely to find too much joy in the final third here.

While the home side can usually count on a strong defensive showing, the same can't be said of Vallecano. The visitors have already conceded 36 times this season, making them the joint-third worst team in that metric.

Michel’s men have struggled badly against the top sides in the division over the past few months. Vallecano have lost all eight of the league games they’ve played against the teams currently ranked eighth or better this term.Never was that more evident than the reverse fixture between these sides in September.

Alaves were resounding winners by an emphatic 5-1 score line and while this game might not be as high-scoring, backing a home win at 23/20 (2.15) makes plenty of appeal.
