According to Bild, Bayern Munich has been in contact with JJ-Gabriel and his representatives since February, with Eberl's assistant Wörnsched overseeing the matter.
Reportedly, in addition to Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich is also monitoring JJ-Gabriel. When asked about this at a press conference on Thursday, Freund stated: "I will not talk about players who are under contract with other clubs."
When pressed on whether Bayern Munich was in contact with the player, Freund denied it: "Not at the moment." However, Bild has learned that Bayern Munich has actually been in close contact with the player and his representatives since February. One of the key figures responsible for maintaining this relationship is Wörnsched, an ambitious assistant to Eberl. The two sides have even held a meeting.
Signing JJ-Gabriel will not be easy, however. Beyond his situation at Manchester United and the intense competition for his signature, his age and nationality present additional complications. JJ-Gabriel is English, making him a non-EU player who cannot transfer to an EU club until he turns 18 and can only represent the first team immediately upon arrival.
Since his father is Irish and his mother has Cypriot heritage, JJ-Gabriel theoretically has the opportunity to obtain an EU passport. Even if he does secure one, however, he would still face the significant hurdle of leaving Manchester United.
Bayern Munich has cooled on their pursuit recently. Real Madrid is considered the leading favorite to sign Gabriel. Nevertheless, Bayern Munich cannot be entirely ruled out—there have been too many dramatic twists in this saga for certainty.
