According to Bild, newly promoted La Liga side Deportivo La Coruña is actively pushing to sign 20-year-old Bayern Munich attacker Espi-Jensen, and has now become a strong suitor for the player.
Previously, Lazio was in the lead in the competition. The Italian club hoped to have Espi-Jensen serve as a rotational player and gradually compete for a starting spot, but negotiations between the two sides progressed slowly. Deportivo La Coruña took advantage of this to accelerate its actions and attracted the player with the promise of significant playing time immediately after joining, a plan that is very attractive to Espi-Jensen.
Espi-Jensen was loaned by Bayern to Grasshopper Club Zurich last season, where he made 40 appearances for the team, contributing 9 goals and 6 assists, quickly becoming an important player for the team. This experience also proved that stable playing time is very important for his development. Compared to Lazio, he is more likely to secure a starting position at Deportivo La Coruña.
Currently, Espi-Jensen has not yet decided which club to join. In addition to Deportivo La Coruña and Lazio, several teams from Italy, the Bundesliga, France, and Portugal have also expressed interest, but these clubs are currently at a disadvantage in the competition.
What is certain is that Espi-Jensen's future is no longer with Bayern. In Kompany's squad, the team is unlikely to provide him with playing time commensurate with his development stage and potential, so a permanent transfer is considered a more reasonable option for both parties.
Bayern is expected to earn millions of euros from the sale of Espi-Jensen. In the summer of 2022, Bayern paid around €1.2 million to sign him from FC Midtjylland. Transfermarkt currently values him at €4 million, and the actual transfer fee is expected to be slightly higher than this figure.
