Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, kicked off preparations for their upcoming international friendly against Austria with an initial training session at the Vienna Football Campus on Monday.
A total of 21 players took part in the one-hour session, which was structured to balance recovery and tactical work. Players who featured for their respective clubs on Sunday were put through light recovery drills, while the rest of the squad engaged in more intensive tactical exercises and shooting routines as the technical team began laying down plans for the encounter.
Among those present were goalkeepers Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Benjamin Asare, and Joseph Anang, alongside defenders Patrick Pfeiffer, Derrick Luckassen, Derrick Kohn, Jerome Opoku, Caleb Yirenkyi, Kojo Oppong Pepprah, Jonas Adjetey, Marvin Senaya, and Gideon Mensah.
The midfield and attacking units also reported strong numbers, with Elisha Owusu, Ibrahim Sulemana, Kwasi Sibo, Jordan Ayew, Prince Kwabena Adu, Christopher Bonsu Baah, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Antoine Semenyo, Kamal Deen Sulemana, and Daniel Agyei all involved in the session.
The squad received a further boost with the arrival of deputy captain Thomas Partey, increasing the number of players in camp to 22 as preparations gather momentum.
Two more players, Alexander Djiku and Kojo Oppong Pepprah, are expected to join the team on Tuesday, which would bring the squad closer to full strength ahead of the friendly.
With a blend of recovery work and tactical fine-tuning already underway, the Black Stars are steadily building intensity as they gear up for the test against Austria.
