Braithwaite proves that if you believe in something you can achieve it

You can't help but feel sympathy for Martin Braithwaite. His presentation as a Barcelona player proved that if you believe in something you can achieve it.

This is also an originality worth thanking because, although the dream of wearing the Blaugrana colours has come true, as it is for any footballer to play for the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich, the truth is that is a dream which rarely comes true.

And anyway, Braithwaite has done it, and it's always nice and encouraging to see someone fulfil their dream, if only because you can keep hoping that one day your time will come and enforcing that dream doesn't change that.

Not even having achieved it as a result of a chain of events - as Sheldon Cooper would say, it is difficult to conceive of a universe in which Barcelona would entertain the signing of a striker from Leganes.

Nor is it their business to have their name mentioned in the future as a symbol of one of the turbulent ends of the era that will mark the history of a club that seems condemned to lose its stars in unexpected circumstances.

Because the fact is that the history of the Barcelona of disagreements with its myths is already a historical feature. It happened with Josep Samitier, it happened with Laszlo Kubala, it happened with Johan Cruyff, it happened with Diego Maradona even before the successes came, it happened with Ronaldo, it happened with Romario and even the departure of Neymar was controversial although there perhaps the player and his environment had the biggest say.

It is also true that Maradona was and is a force of nature and, as such, uncontrollable, only Fidel Castro was able to get a hold of him.

Because if someday the unthinkable happens, if a Leo Messi joins that list, if he ever leaves the club it should be after inaugurating his own monument in front of the Camp Nou, the fact that a Braithwaite moment has happened to what was the Rivaldo moment of a few decades ago would almost be an explanation of why.

The Rivaldo moment grew after the crisis of Skonto in Riga. The Braithwaite moment was to get out of a problem but, after the Messi era, it will seem hard to understand.
