Cadena Cope: Joan says we matched with Chelsea in the first half? Nonsense!

In the fifth round of the Champions League group stage, Barcelona suffered a 0-3 away defeat to Chelsea. Following the match, Cadena Cope presenter Juanma Castano criticised Joan Garcia's post-match comments.

Following the match, Juan García addressed the media on the sidelines. He began by stating unequivocally: "We came here determined to secure all three points, particularly after the 3-3 draw against Club Brugge last time out. This was a complex and challenging encounter. Even with eleven men against eleven, it was a tough contest; playing a man down, we gave absolutely everything, performed to our highest standard, and fought hard for the win."

In the mixed zone, he elaborated that prior to Araujo's dismissal, "We actually created some decent opportunities, but unfortunately failed to capitalise on them," acknowledging that the match had been evenly balanced.

After hearing the post-match comments, Cadena Cope presenter Juanma Castano bluntly remarked: "The players' and coaches' interpretation of this match is truly astonishing, utterly unbelievable."

"Do they genuinely believe we didn't watch the game? What sane person would claim Barcelona were 'on equal terms' with Chelsea in the first half today?"

Juanma Castano further pinpointed that Barcelona's sole threatening scoring opportunity came from Ferran Torres' effort, with nothing substantial emerging thereafter: "From that moment on, the so-called 'evenly matched' contest was effectively over."
