Cadena SER Guest: Hard to explain why Real Madrid didn't give Nico Paz a chance

Nico Paz shone in the Champions League, contributing two goals and an assist in Como's 4-1 victory over Man United. The former Real Madrid player's stunning performance has sparked discussion about why Real Madrid did not give him more opportunities.

Bruno Alemany, an international football expert for Cadena SER, praised the Spanish-Argentine player on the "El bar de Sique y Flaki" program. Alemany stated, "He is a player with excellent physical attributes, capable of making powerful runs forward, and his shooting from the edge of the box is impressive. He always strikes those characteristic curved shots with great power. Furthermore, he possesses that winning mentality and personality to make an impact; besides playing well, he wants to score goals, provide assists, and win."

It is this winning mentality that has made Nico Paz one of football's rising stars. And it is precisely for this reason that people are wondering why Real Madrid did not invest heavily in him at the time. Alemany said, "It's hard to explain why Real Madrid didn't give him more opportunities and why they didn't exercise any option to bring this player back."

His future at Como may not be long, as major European clubs have already included him on their transfer lists. Though he is currently playing for a prominent team, Alemany stated, "I doubt he will stay there for long." Nico Paz's Champions League debut, where he tormented Man United in a 4-1 victory, did not escape the notice of the program. Some even believe he has the potential to succeed Messi in the future and wear the No. 10 jersey for the Argentine national team.

According to Eloy Lecina, another collaborator on the program, Real Madrid holds a window of opportunity regarding Nico Paz. Lecina confirmed, "You can only sign him back this summer." On June 29, when Real Madrid sold the midfielder to Como for 60 million euros, the official announcement stated that an agreement had been reached with the player for him to "remain at the Italian club next season." The agreement also stipulated that Real Madrid "reserves the option to unilaterally re-purchase Nico Paz's registration rights in the 2027-28 season."

Real Madrid's only chance to re-sign him is to pay 80 million euros this summer. Eloy Lecina decisively stated, "Without a doubt, I would pay that amount. In my opinion, he is a talent you once had, and I think he is proving to be decisive; he is the kind of player you have to make room for. It's similar to Güler's situation—he has to play." However, former Real Madrid scout Manolo Romero was not so certain. Romero said, "He is a player with inconsistent performances, good technical ability, and all of that is improving. Let's see how far he can go." He personally prefers signing the English player Rice.
