Former Juventus and Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello has dismissed Cristiano Ronaldo standing in the game.
For many, the Al-Nassr striker is the greatest football has seen.
But Capello said at Laureus Awards: "Messi, Pelé, Maradona and Ronaldo the Phenomenon can be defined as such.
"I don't consider Cristiano Ronaldo among them.
"CR7 is a great player, he won titles and the Ballon d'Or, but he wasn't as great as Messi. Ronaldo is a great scorer and can do everything, but he's not a genius."

I can see frustration and irritation in Cristiano's fans comments. they are too emotional and never make rational assessments. They think football starts and ends with Cristiano's career. Biscan was a goal scoring record holder until Cristiano broke his record. Even though he outscored Pele, Muller etc, Biscan was never ranked in the top 10 greatest players of all time. If Biscan wasn't the greatest ever, then why would Cristiano be the greatest ever just by breaking Biscan's record? Ask yourself how many goals did Maradona score? Yet Maradona together with Pele are the greatest ever. With Messi now the argument is who is the greatest ever among Messi, Pele and Maradona? Why??? Because the players ability with ball, magical sparks and genius touch plus achievements on the pitch and influencing games is what makes one greatest ever. Barring goals Cristiano is just ordinarily average on the pitch. The only difference between Cristiano and others is his consistency in scoring goals and that's his greatest achievement but not enough to make him the greatest ever. Also, having the largest fan base in social media platforms is never a parameter for being the greatest ever.

It’s his opinion… we can’t begrudge him… whether Messi over CR7 or otherwise…we know Cristiano will always be in the top 4… Messi knows how the rivalry with Cristiano pushed to be the guy he is now n the other way round.. some years after we will realize what these two guys have done to football… Spearheading big clubs to win 4-5 champions leagues titles… World Cup, league titles in different leagues.. the goal tallies n the game changing prowess.. I didn’t watch Pele but had a little of Maradona but these two guys have caused a shift in football.. everybody has their opinions .. Personally am a Ronaldinho person.. I fink his on field game is totally insane but that’s me but facts will always be facts be it Messi support or Cristiano support

Best footballer ever is Pele then a close second either Maradona or Messi. If you want to base it on pure footballing talent then Ronaldinho is number 1 but his career cut way too short or he could have possibly beat Pele. Ronaldo is an exceptional player and is the greatest footballer ever who isn’t a born natural but works extremely hard at being number 1 and by his very efforts and his obvious ability being good at football has him mixing with the greats but he isn’t as good as them and never will be. This is by no means a slur against him as I’ve stated he is exceptional but you either have that spark of genius or you don’t.

His fans think scoring goals is the only thing that makes you the best, but football fans believe it takes a genius to dribble 4-5 players from midfield to the opposition half and still score a goal. Messi, the late Pele & Maradona have all done this. Watching Messi, Maradona and Pele with the way they display with the ball on their feet is magical. The only display we've seen so far from Ronaldo is to sprint and wait in the box to finish the job his teammates have done. It's like saying Floyd Mayweather is better than Mike Tyson because he never loses a fight. Tyson's skills and movement on the ring is incomparable, that's what makes him the best.
