Carlos González: Ter Stegen is the victim, not the culprit

  /  William008

Ter Stegen has been with Barcelona for eleven seasons . The German has always been an example, a highly profitable player for Barcelona and one of the best in the world in his position. His battle with Courtois and Oblak has been spectacular over the years, and his starting position has been undisputed.

Now Barcelona is trying to kick him out the back door. There's nothing sadder than seeing Laporta 's maneuvers, once again, with many sycophants surrounding him trying to make us go along with the millstones. No, I refuse. The German goalkeeper has every right to fulfill the contract he signed. Ter Stegen isn't guilty of wanting to fulfill the agreement and of his club, once again due to its poor management, needing his transfer to register a player. Nor is he guilty of signing Joan García without being certain he'll be able to play. These are all Barcelona's mistakes, not the German goalkeeper's.

Another thing is that the club, always on the fence due to its financial problems, is upset that the player didn't accept a transfer and has now had surgery, as if people go under the knife for nothing. What's ridiculous again is that a club of Barcelona's stature has to go through stories like this just to register a player and discuss whether his outage is for three or five months. Besides, don't worry, the Spanish government might come back and lend a hand, as it did with Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor .

The worst part is that they're also pointing fingers at Ter Stegen for doing what anyone else in his position would do. The German, hampered by injuries lately, is looking out for his future and that of his family. I don't think he deserves the treatment he's receiving, and it's a shame that a player like him, a goalkeeper who has defined an era at Barcelona, has to suffer this season at the hands of some.
