Carvajal becomes a father on the eve of Monchengladbach clash

Dani Carvajal has become a father on the eve of Real Madrid's crucial Champions League clash with Borussia Monchengladbach.

His partner Daphne Canizares gave birth to their first child, Martin, and posted a photo of the three of them together on social media shortly after.

The right-back has recovered from a two week injury layoff and the fact that the birth of his son took place a day before the match means Carvajal will be available to play against the Germans.

Carvajal will be doubly motivated for the fixture, in order to dedicate a win, and even a goal, to his newborn child.
