Real Madrid have announced Dani Carvajal will leave the club upon the expiry of his contract this summer.

The 34-year-old will play his final game for Los Blancos this weekend, when they take on Athletic Club at Santiago Bernabeu.

Carvajal made his 450th appearance for the club last time out, with 390 of those coming as a starter, as Madrid defeated Sevilla 1-0 on Sunday.

Only Sergio Ramos (671) and Marcelo (546) have made more appearances than Carvajal for Madrid among defenders in the 21st century.

After 10 years in the Madrid academy, Carvajal joined Bayer Leverkusen for a season before completing a return to the Spanish capital in 2013.

Since then, the Madrid captain has won 27 trophies with the club, most notably winning six Champions League titles.

Carvajal also has six Intercontinental Cups (previously known as the Club World Cup), five UEFA Super Cups, four La Liga titles, two Copa del Reys and four Supercopa de Espana.

He scored 14 goals across his 450 appearances, and the club have announced the defender will receive a tribute on the final day of the season.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez said: "Dani Carvajal is a legend and a symbol of Real Madrid and its academy.

"His image alongside our beloved and remembered Alfredo Di Stefano laying the first stone of Ciudad Real Madrid will forever remain in the hearts of all Madridistas and in the history of our club.

"Carvajal has always exemplified the values of Real Madrid. This is and will always be his home."
