Casilla: Luca Zidane will be a great goalkeeper for a long time

Luca Zidane remains at Real Madrid and former Los Blancos goalkeeper Kiko Casilla is backing him to achieve great things in his career.

The son of Zinedine Zidane is currently plying his trade in Castilla, although he played for the first team against Huesca.

At Valdebebas he worked closely with Casilla before the Spaniard left for Leeds United in January.

"Luca deserves all the good that comes his way," Casilla told MARCA.

"I'll be the first to be happy for him because he's a great person and a great goalkeeper.

"I think he's made a leap with his maturity this year and he's doing well with Castilla.

"He has that thing that a goalkeeper needs."

Keylor Navas and Thibaut Courtois stand between him and the first team's No.1 shirt, but wherever he goes Casilla is backing him to succeed.

"His immediate future is at Real Madrid, but you never know," Casilla added.

"But I know he's going to be an elite goalkeeper for many years."

Iker Casillas held the position for so long and Los Blancos have boasted one of the world's best between their posts for as long as most can remember.

"Real Madrid have a very good organisation of goalkeeper coaches and scouts," the Leeds player said.

"They've done a great job and changed so many great goalkeepers by improving their reading of defensive situations."
