Pepe has been welcomed back to Porto with open arms and the experienced defender was greeted at his former club by a familiar face.

Iker Casillas, the veteran goalkeeper and Pepe's old colleagues from their Real Madrid days, posted a picture of the duo as they were reunited.

The image clearly struck a nostalgic chord with fans, who enjoyed seeing the pair back together again.

One fan called both men 'absolute legends', whilst another wrote: 'My emotional heart, take care of each other.'

Pepe spent eight years at the Bernabeu with Casillas and both are still held in high regard by Madridistas.

The goalkeeper and centre-back won three Champions League titles each, and Casillas can boast five La Liga trophies, two more than his old friend.

Now they join forces once more in the pursuit of some more silverware with Porto.

Pepe, 35, spent three seasons at Porto from 2004-07 and returns as the club's second addition of the window after signing winger Fernando from Santa Clara for £1.35m.

Porto are currently six points clear at the top of the Portuguese top flight.
