Derby County scored two first-half goals at Stamford Bridge but poor defending haunted them during a narrow EFL Cup defeat to Chelsea.
Match Events
5'OWN GOAL! Chelsea 1-0 Derby County (Tomori)
A DISASTROUS START FOR DERBY! 1-0 CHELSEA! It's a head in hands moment for the Chelsea loanee Tomori, as a horrible miskick sees him turn Zappacosta's cross into his own net! A horendous moment for the 20-year-old to gift his parent club the lead!
9'GOAL! Chelsea 1-1 Derby County (Marriott)
DERBY ARE RIGHT BACK IN IT! 1-1! What a response from the visitors! It's something of a gift as Cahill, a former team-mate of Lampard, gives the ball away with a dreadful pass, before then slipping to allow Huddlestone to play Marriott through on goal, and the striker makes no mistake finishing coolly into the bottom corner! Parity restored!
21'OWN GOAL! Chelsea 2-1 Derby County (Keogh)
ANOTHER OWN GOAL! CHELSEA LEAD 2-1! This is absolutely stunning! Derby are the architects of their own downfall yet again! It's a near replica of the opener, instead this time it's Keogh who scuffs a clearance on the end of Zappacosta's cross, leaving Carson wrong-footed as Chelsea are gifted yet another lead!
27'GOAL! Chelsea 2-2 Derby County (Waghorn)
Rinse, repeat! That's been the story of this first half at Stamford bridge! Derby concede an own goal and then minutes later they pull themselves back in it - this time Waghorn simply couldn't miss from five yards on the end of Mount's delicious delivery from the left, following a terrific team move down the flank.
41'GOAL! Chelsea 3-2 Derby County (Fabregas)
CHELSEA BACK IN FRONT YET AGAIN! Fabregas makes it 3-2! A Loftus-Cheek cross eventually falls kindly for Fabregas, who sees his first-time effort take a slight deflection off the chest of Tomori, and it's enough to see it beyond Carson! This one isn't an own goal, but Derby can't catch a break in defence!
60' CHANCE! Cahill's header saved
Critical save from Carson! Chelsea's sixth corner of the match results in a free header for Cahill, but his effort from point-blank range is parried by Carson, who keeps Derby within reach!

I totally realized that even opponent players are more reliable than Morata to score for Chelsea....

You score 4 goals and your opponent scores just 1 goal, but they win

Give him the stick as much you want. But this man has been a Hero for the club more often than not.

Cesc Fabregas has had a hand in seven goals in his last seven League Cup appearances for Chelsea (three goals, four assists). He should be given more time to prove himself.

I think Lampard should be please with his boys for tonight game, just that luck was ng on their side, how can you score four goals and still loose 3-2, thanks to Tomori for helping his parent club get the win. . ... . sarrimino ball undefeated

He is proving his worth now
Yeah starting to prove me wrong but I prefer that cos I've always wanted him to do well but recently been losing my patience with him. I hope he can retain his fine goalscoring form in the prem cos he's got like 5 goals in 4 games or something which is great. But no point getting my hopes up cos he had an amazing start to the league last season too. But I do wish him well and was a staunch supporter of his till recently so it still makes me happy to see him do well....
