Kasper Schmeichel has been discussed as a potential goalkeeper for Chelsea, Transfer Confidential can reveal.
The Blues have been forced to go back into the transfer market for a new shot stopper after Kepa Arrizabalaga completed his loan move to Real Madrid.
Robert Sanchez has already joined the club from Brighton this summer for £25million and made his debut in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Liverpool.
It's unclear if manager Mauricio Pochettino views the Spaniard as a first-choice goalkeeper going forward, however, and needs to add competition with Lucas Bergstrom on the bench for Sunday's game.
Schmeichel has vast Premier League experience from his time at Leicester, who he left last season to join Nice in Ligue 1.
But he may return to England this summer, and the French side have received previous approaches from Brentford and Nottingham Forest for the 36-year-old.
Brentford may offload Thomas Strakosha this window so are in the market for another shot-stopper, especially after loaning David Raya to Arsenal.
Schmeichel is willing to leave Nice but wants a top project and Chelsea will obviously appeal.
He would cost a minimal fee if he were to return to the Premier League, having left Leicester for just £1m 12 moths ago.
