Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting was Paris Saint-Germain's hero in their momentous Champions League quarter-final win over Atalanta, but if it wasn't for the coronavirus pandemic, he wouldn't have even been at the club.
His deal with the Parisians expired in June, but with Edinson Cavani choosing not to extend his contract to cover the Champions League resumption, Choupo-Moting was brought back into the fold.
And the rest is now history.
Alongside other teammates who also decided to prolong their stay in Sergio Rico and Thiago Silva, Choupo-Moting now has the prospect of a semi-final to look forward to, the first in this competition in the era of the club's Qatari owners.
His initial arrival in Paris might have been unexpected - coming as it did alongside the exorbitant arrivals of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, the latter who gave his man-of-the-match award to Choupo-Moting - but now this unexpected hero is here to stay.
For a few more weeks at least.
