Amid delays to the reconstruction of the Spotify Camp Nou, Barça are reportedly considering taking May’s Clásico abroad.
Barcelona are considering hosting the second LaLiga Clásico of the 2024/25 season outside of Spain, according to a report in the Catalan media.
Barça eye overseas options amid Spotify Camp Nou delays
The radio station SER Catalunya says Barça could seek to hold their matchday-35 clash with Real Madrid at a major venue elsewhere in Europe if work on their revamped Spotify Camp Nou stadium is not finished in time.
Why can’t Barça stay longer at Monjuïc?
Amid delays to the Spotify Camp Nou reconstruction project, Barcelona recently revealed that they have postponed their departure from their temporary home - the city’s Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys - until the end of April.
However, Barça cannot extend their stay at the Estadi Olímpic any longer than that, as the Montjuïc arena is scheduled to host a series of high-profile concerts during May.
Given the multi-million-dollar compensation payouts that would be triggered were they to be cancelled, these shows appear highly difficult to remove from the schedule.
When is Barcelona vs Real Madrid scheduled for?
Barcelona are due to host Real Madrid in LaLiga on May 10/11, 2025, the same weekend on which The Rolling Stones are in line to perform in Barcelona.
While Barça are now weighing up their alternative options should the Spotify Camp Nou not be ready to host the Clásico, the Catalans remain confident that they will not have to trigger their ‘plan B’ and are yet to broach the idea to LaLiga or the Spanish Football Federation.
Both domestic governing bodies would have to offer their approval before the game could be moved abroad.

Barcelona should just play it at Real Madrid stadium because that's one of their training ground
