Djamel Belmadi, the new coach of the Algerian national team, is reportedly looking to sign Luca Zidane up for Algerian nationality.
Luca, who has French nationality like his father Zinedine Zidane, could decide to play for the country of his family's roots instead.
According to Algerian newspaper Echouruk, Belmadi met with Luca before the coronavirus pandemic and the goalkeeper accepted the offer of playing for Algeria.
The idea is that, once all the paperwork is completed, Luca will be available to play for Algeria in World Cup qualification in autumn and the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
Luca, who is currently on loan at Racing Santander from Real Madrid, will compete for a place in goal with Al-Ettifaq's Rais M'Bolhi and Al-Raed's Azzedine Doukha, who are both 33 years old.
This would be the first time the 21-year-old has played for Algeria at any level, having only previously represented France at under-17 level.

Tough decision to make but in my opinion the best decision for his career. He can really make a name for himself there.
