Cubarsi receives Barcelona's best player award for 2024-25 season

According to Sport, Barcelona defender Cubarsi and women's footballer Patri Guijarro received the Aldo Rovira Award for the 2024-25 season, being named Barcelona men's and women's Player of the Season, respectively. This is the first time both players have won the award.

The Aldo Rovira Award is selected by a jury of journalists from various media outlets. This year marks the 17th edition for the men's award and the 6th edition for the women's award.

The award was established by former Barcelona director Josep Lluís Rovira in memory of his son Aldo, who died in an accident in 2009 at the age of 37.

This Thursday at noon, representatives of the Rovira family presented the awards to Cubarsi and Patri Guijarro at Barcelona's Ciutat Esportiva.

Cubarsi delivered an outstanding season, establishing himself as a leader in Barcelona's defence. He won the Spanish Super Cup and La Liga title with the club, and also won the World Cup with the Spanish national team, where he was named the tournament's best young player.

Cubarsi has already reached an elite level of competition and continues to improve. He is among the leading contenders for the Golden Boy award and is also expected to be in contention for the Kopa Trophy, which recognises the best young player of the season.

Patri Guijarro was instrumental in Barcelona Femení's historic season, with the team winning all the competitions they participated in.

The midfielder from Mallorca is central to the team's midfield operations. This season, she became Barcelona Femení's first-ever captain.
