According to Tycsports, former Brazilian player D. Alves criticized how Argentina treated Messi before he led the team to victory, noting that the Argentine captain only received recognition after years of scrutiny.
"The people here did not treat Messi as he deserved," D. Alves said in an interview with Cadena 3 during his visit to northern Argentina. D. Alves played alongside Messi at Barcelona for several seasons, where the two formed a successful partnership and won numerous titles with the Catalan club. D. Alves highlighted the disparity between Messi's standing in world football and the recognition he received in his home country.
These remarks were made during D. Alves's trip to northern Argentina, where he participated in various religious, sports, and social activities. In Salta, he visited the Villa Soledad community and the headquarters of the Argentine Evangelical Children's Professional League (LAPEN).
In addition to discussing Messi and his football career, D. Alves also spoke about his time in prison. He was detained in Spain for 14 months, from January 2023 to March 2024, and was sentenced to four and a half years in prison in February 2024 for sexual assault. In March 2025, the High Court of Catalonia overturned the conviction and acquitted him, although both the prosecution and the plaintiff announced they would appeal the decision.
During religious activities, D. Alves used this life experience to reflect on freedom and faith. He stated: "Sometimes we think we are free, but in reality, we are more imprisoned than free, because the greatest prison for humanity is sin." He concluded by saying: "Prison is merely a physical place; true freedom comes from being liberated from sin."

Messi was questioned for years. And then he understood he can't do anything. So he retired. But FIFA and CONCAF understood they gonna lose big money. So they brought him back assuring him, they would do everything to make him lift trophies. Exactly what they did. One of the most shameful actions by an organization.

You forgot to say they score goals for him or paid the goal keepers he scored against to allow the shots into the netππ€£
Haven't they though ?? The amount of fouls called against the opponents far outweigh the fouls called towards them. While the injuries obtained by the opponents are vastly superior for their opponents. And % cautions received vs fouls called is still low for them. Especially when % fouls called vs committed is so low. So sad that their antics and referee wasn't enough to give them WC this time.

Now that he has retired, are they not still going to lose money? From athe comfort of your home, you know everything happening within FIFA and CONCACAF
Yeh I do. In reality. I know things very well. You juice out the maximum from the golden goose before it dies. Exactly what FIFA did. And the new foreign sales pitch by FIFA, why you think that's happening ? They lost their golden goose. can't do much more about it. So they going for the next thing.

True freedom is being liberated from sin. That's a great spiritual statement. I say a big Amen to it.
