Frenkie de Jong's incredible display against Real Madrid in the Champions League was essentially his first act as a Barcelona player, the fans will revere him for his part in eliminating Los Blancos, however his own mother has made clear moving to the Blaugrana won't change the 21-year-old.
Having initially emerged as a natural holding midfielder with the Amsterdam club, De Jong has transformed into the total midfield player, capable of dictating games in an all-action manner.
Such versatility and a high level of performance attracted the Catalan giants, and he will arrive in Spain at the end of the 2018/19 season.
"Even at Barcelona, he'll continue to be a normal boy," Marjon Schuchhard explained to De Telegraaf.
"Frenkie is calm and thoughtful, I'm proud of him. He doesn't make decisions without thinking."
Many young players often fall foul of behavioural standards once they reach the perceived summit of football, however there are few concerns about the Dutch international on this front.
"Frenkie doesn't make decisions for money," she continued. "He always thinks about the step he will take several times.
"It's important that he's a good footballer, but it's even more important that he's a good person, we raised him to be calm and modest."
There is nothing to be critical of with regards to tattoos, however De Jong's mother believes that her son will not follow the same avenue as many of his sporting contemporaries.
"Many players have those tattoos," she confirmed. "I said to Frenkie that some of those tattoos will look less beautiful when the person is old.
"He laughed at that and told me he had no intention of getting any."

Well done. Barcelona fits a player like de Jong. I hope he will succeed but only time will tell. And well done Ajax. Another 65 million in the pocket and knowing Ajax they will invest part of it in the academy as per usual.

Barca is more proactive in transfer market than any other club, for sure. They needed Xavi and Ineista's replacement. They tried few, looks like Arthur is gonna be there for a while, sold Neymar, Dembele has settled finally and going to be a big player for Barca in coming years. They are buying young players for future but are also buying cheap players for quick fix until these lot are ready. I honestly think Barca having upper hand in transfer market is down to Messi too. Who doesn't want to learn from the best player ever and share same dressing room as him.

Don't know what they find in this guy, but ok. They have 10 of them now. Good luck for the good athmosphere in the dressing room. 85 million (without bonus) is the kind of money you would pay for a midfielder like Kante who can win you a world cup, not this guy. Or KDB in another register. Who is the little player ?

Not sure anyone would agree with me, but I think its a bit disrespectful to his current club, (If he's not moving until the summer) to be waving his new club shirt in the face of his current team mates, and his current clubs fans, can see him losing a lot of friends and support over that.
