Frenkie de Jong hasn't even needed to wear the Barcelona shirt to win over those at the Camp Nou and his performance against Real Madrid for Ajax was enough to show that he can be an idol in Catalonia.
The board and coaching staff have no doubts that he will succeed at the Blaugrana after they splashed 75 million euros to bring him to the club in the summer. The Dutchman played 180 minutes against the world champions and shone.
In the game on Tuesday, De Jong carried Ajax at times, recovering six balls and completing 49 of his 54 passes. In Amsterdam, he completed 43 of 49 passes, had 82 touches and won eight of his 12 duels, not committing a single foul.
De Jong is a fixed player at Ajax and he showed his ability against Real Madrid. He has vision, personality and a boldness to take risks. He's technically sound, can distribute the ball and can link defence and attack seamlessly.
The beating of Modric
De Jong's game is infectious and he plays with a smile on his face, even humiliating Luka Modric at the Santiago Bernabeu.
He fulfilled Josep Maria Bartomeu's wishes for him to "eliminate Real Madrid" from the Champions League, which has pleased the Azulgrana's fans around the world.
"Barcelona are happy that we won against Real Madrid," the Dutchman said afterwards.
The Catalan press has already been full of praise for the youngster, before he has even touched down in Spain.
Onana and De Ligt
Barcelona aren't quite finished looking to sign Ajax's most promising players, with Matthijs de Ligt and Andre Onana, a former La Masia product, on their radar. Both played excellently in the last 16 tie and Bartomeu has recognised that they are worth pursuing.

He looks like busquets in terms of playing style.😍 He's young, but I think he can make a huge contribution now.☺️ He is seen as a beastly talent.🌟 De jong's profile is exactly what barcelona need.😉

Barcelona needs to really cut down on transfer spending and focus more on producing more talents from La masia We don't want to be in what real Madrid is in
