Diario Sport: Flick reverses Dro's training ban after captains' persuasion

According to Diario Sport, Barcelona are looking to sell Dro for a fee exceeding €6 million. Hansi Flick had initially banned the player from the club's training ground but reversed his decision following intervention from the first-team captains.

Reports suggest Dro's exit is a done deal and irreversible, though the timing and method of his departure from Barcelona remain undisclosed, as he is no longer involved with the first team.

The decision for Dro to leave has come as a blow to the club; Deco and Flick were caught off guard and did not anticipate this outcome. However, the reality is that little was done in recent weeks to demonstrate trust in him or persuade him to reconsider.

Two statistics underscore this situation: at this stage of the season, Dro has accumulated just over 150 minutes of playing time under Flick in official matches.

In the days following his 18th birthday, neither Dro nor his representatives received a concrete renewal offer to secure his future at the Camp Nou. While Deco expressed a desire to revisit the contract situation, no further action was taken.

Nevertheless, the club insists the deal is not finalized and is pushing to maximize negotiations to improve the terms of his exit. In other words, Barça aims to prevent other clubs from signing him by simply triggering his €6 million release clause, preferring instead to complete the move via a formal transfer.

The current situation remains largely unchanged since last Friday, when Deco, Flick, and Dro's teammates learned of his decision to leave Barcelona before the end of January. During this period, the club and the player's entourage have indeed committed to a final round of negotiations.

The next step is expected before the end of the week, when the player's agent, Ivan de la Peña, will officially inform the club of Dro's next destination, thereby initiating the negotiation phase.

Barcelona hopes, and has communicated to the player's team, that the departure will be via transfer rather than a release clause buyout. The club argues that the effort invested in Dro and his performances under Flick warrant a return significantly higher than €6 million.

Barcelona's demands in Dro's case are not unprecedented. Recently, during negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain, an emergency agreement was reached to prevent Ousmane Dembélé from leaving via his release clause, instead finalizing a transfer worth €50.4 million.

Sources from both Barcelona and the player's camp, confirmed to Diario Sport, indicate that a willingness to reach an agreement is on the table, though its feasibility remains uncertain. It is believed that Barcelona expects to secure at least €10 million to partially offset the loss of one of its most significant investments.

Whether the suitor is Paris Saint-Germain (considered the frontrunner), Manchester City, or Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona will attempt to secure additional financial compensation to mitigate their disappointment.

In what could be his final days as a Barcelona player, Dro has received support from the first-team captains in an effort to salvage this regrettable situation. Despite Flick's initial announcement that he was banned, Dro has been training alone at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper facilities.

Following the intervention of the captains, the coach changed his mind. Ultimately, Dro continues to fulfill his daily training duties while awaiting the official announcement of his new destination.
