Eden Hazard is earning £400k-a-week at Real Madrid

Eden Hazard finally clinched his dream move to Real Madrid last week and it's no wonder he dreamt of it with a doubling of his wages to £400,000-a-week.

Real Madrid continued their big spending ways last week when they completed the transfer of Chelsea forward Eden Hazard for up to £130 million, finally ending over a year of speculation.

The big money doesn't just end with his transfer fee though. Hazard, who was on £200k-a-week at Chelsea, is also getting a big boost to his wage packet and, according to the Evening Standard, is now on £400k-a-week.

To break that down Hazard will earn £19.2 million in a year, £1.7 million every month, £57,000 just for his days work, £2,380 in an hour, £39 for the minute it's taken me to write this sentence out, and 66p for each second- decent.

According to Total Sportek that money will make the Belgian easily the best paid player at the Bernabeu next season.

Gareth Bale is currently the club's top earner on £350k-a-week and James Rodriguez is on £200k-a-week but both those players could leave this summer.

Fellow new signing Luka Jovic is 'only' on £170,000-a-week in the Spanish capital but Hazard could soon be joined at the top of the earners list.

Real are still being heavily linked with Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba. The Premier League side reportedly won't sell for less than £150 million.

If the 13 times European champions do decide to stump up the cash for the World Cup winner then he's likely to cost them big in the wage department too, with the former Juventus man currently on £290k-a-week.

Real's huge overhaul comes on the back of a poor season by their lofty standards. They went through two managers just to get back to Zinedine Zidane, who'd left just a year before.

Los Blancos finished third in La Liga and were knocked out of the Champions League in the last 16 by Ajax.

After failing to replace Cristiano Ronaldo last summer they've signed Jovic and Hazard in attack, as well as Brazilian youngster Rodrygo, whilst Eder Militao and Ferland Mendy have joined in defence.

At Hazard's introduction the fans chanted for Kylian Mbappe and any move for him would make this the most ridiculous transfer window by any team, not that Pogba would be too shoddy.

Will Real return to the top of European football again next season?
