Eden Hazard suffers ANOTHER injury as he battles to be fit for Villarreal clash

Real Madrid starlet Eden Hazard is now facing a fight to be fit for their clash with Villarreal this weekend, after picking up a knock in training.

The 31-year-old could face yet another set-back in his injury-hit Madrid career, although the knock is reportedly not a serious one, but it has seen the Belgium international missing training before subsequently working in the gym.

Hazard should be fit enough to play by the time the weekend roles around, but it’s an added stress boss Carlo Ancelotti did not need, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Madrid have struggled with injuries of late as they were without star striker Karim Benzema for Sunday’s win over Granada, while Ferland Mendy also missed out.

Meanwhile, Casemiro and Lucas Vazquez had to withdraw from the squad in the 11th hour due to a stomach issue.

Ahead of a tricky away clash with Villarreal this weekend, Los Blancos will get Casemiro and Vazquez back, while nothing is certain over Benzema and Mendy.

Both are in group training, but Real Madrid don’t want to take any risks ahead of next week’s key Champions League clash with PSG.

Hazard is just the latest blow for Madrid, but more so for himself, as it is just the latest unfortunate injury setbacks which has marred the Belgian's career at the Bernabeu since sealing his move from Chelsea in 2019.

Hazard's spell at Madrid since joining for around £150million has been nothing short of a disaster, with over 15 injuries hampering the ex-Chelsea star's progress at the Bernabeu.

He has suffered with a number of muscle injuries, knocks, a hairline crack in his foot, hamstring injuries and Abdominal Influenza as well as being ruled out with coronavirus.

When he has been fit and available, the 31-year-old has failed to impress, scoring six goals and providing 10 assists in 61 appearances for Los Blancos.

Hazard has featured in 19 games this campaign, at an average of 46 minutes per appearance.

He has scored one goal and contributed two assists this term.

Hazard was linked with a move back to the Premier League in January to end his torrid time in Spain, but he opted to stay amid interest from Newcastle United.

Boss Ancelotti also made it known that the Belgian was part of his plans going forward.

'Hazard is in our plans for the next season, I can confirm,' Ancelotti said.

But if the LaLiga side manages to secure the signature of PSG and French wonderkid Kylian Mbappe among other targets, you have to question how far Hazard could drop down the pecking order.

Los Blancos are also heavily linked with Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski as they look to bring in reinforcements this summer.

Speculation surrounding Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland appears to have cooled off.
