Twelve years had passed since the last time Espanyol played a continental game and so their fans were not about to miss the opportunity to witness their Europa League encounter against Stjarnan on Thursday night.
As many as 19,122 fans turned up at the RCDE Stadium to support the Catalan side against their Icelandic opponents.
The club are determined to increase the average attendance of their home ground games this season and surpass the 19,388 spectators who followed the team last year in LaLiga Santander.
