Former Liverpool star Dirk Kuyt has slammed the record British transfer fee paid by Manchester City for Jack Grealish.
The Premier League rivals meet at Anfield on Sunday with the Reds seeking to strike an early blow in the title race.
And Kuyt has stoked the rivalry by claiming Grealish is really only worth one-third of his £100million fee.
He told the Daily Mirror: 'The hype and success of the Premier League has an effect on the players' values.
'Just look at the price tags on them these days.
'Jack Grealish went for £100m to City. That's three times the value of what he's really worth.'
The England star joined this summer when the Premier League champions triggered his Aston Villa release clause.
The Dutch ace, a firm Kop favourite during his six-year stint at Anfield, said almost every player in England suffers in the market because their fees are inflated.

But let's be honest, nowadays the transfer market is inflated for everybody... Imagine Coutinho at 142m, Kepa at75m, Dembele at 110m, Havertz at 80m, Pepe at 72m and Felix at 127m...all of them not really worth that price so it's little wonder players like Grealish and Rice are being sold at 100m, it's just market infoation

Man City could have bought Lewandowski instead because they had play makers and Man City only needed a striker poor choice

As a Mancity fan I agree that Grealish was not our main target and it was silly to pay 100M for him…We couldve bought a good Number 9 with that money. But I just hope that Grealish turns out to be a good player for City.

is Man United’s sancho proving his 73 million valuation, Arsenal’s Pepe proving his 75 million valuation or how about Chelsea’s 80 million kepa and 75 million harvtez valuation? give the guy a break he is performing very well.
