  /  autty

The outstanding players in the Primera Division are largely a who's who of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid stars.

#20  Bale, De Jong, et al

There are 12 players who boast a rating of 85, putting them at joint 20th in the rankings for La Liga:Neto (Barcelona, GK); Clement Lenglet (Barcelona, CB); Koke (Atletico Madrid, RM); Raphael Varane (Real Madrid, CB)’; Marcelo (Real Madrid, LB); Jose Maria Gimenez (Atletico Madrid, CB); Iago Aspas (Celta, ST); Saul (Atletico Madrid, CM); James Rodriguez (Real Madrid, CAM); Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid, RB); Gareth Bale (Real Madrid, RW); Frenkie de Jong (Barcelona, CM)

#19  Samuel Umtiti – Barcelona – CB – 86

His place in Barcelona’s starting XI may be under question early in the season, but the France international centre-back is still regarded as one of the best in his position in FIFA 20. He rates second in the league with a defence statistic of 86.

#18  Dani Parejo – Valencia – CM – 86

The set-piece specialist has made a strong start to the season in real life and has amply justified the impressive rating given to him on FIFA 20. On his card, it is his shooting and passing statistics that catch the eye, but he is also one of the game’s best free kick takers.

#17  Ivan Rakitic – Barcelona – CM – 86

One of the steady forces in the heart of the Barcelona team, his FIFA 20 likeness does nothing in an outstanding fashion but equally does not have any clear weaknesses either. His technical abilities will make him useful for players seeking to implement a measured style.

#16  Isco – Real Madrid – CAM – 86

It’s been a difficult year for Isco, who has struggled to nail down a regular place in the Real Madrid side and has been troubled by injury and illness. Nevertheless, FIFA 20 has recognised his talents, notably giving him a dribbling rating of 90. He is otherwise solid.

#15  Karim Benzema – Real Madrid – CF – 87

Love him or hate him, Benzema is the best goal scorer that Real Madrid have at present, and the Frenchman’s FIFA 20 statistics reflect that. A favourite of head coach Zinedine Zidane, he is a strong dribbler, passer and, of course, finisher.

#14  Jordi Alba – Barcelona – LB – 87

The left-back has been flying up the flank of Barcelona for years now and is the game’s outstanding left-back with an overall rating of 87. It is his attacking statistics that make him stand out from the crowd, so perhaps one to avoid for those seeking to play in a defensive style.

#13  Casemiro – Real Madrid – CDM – 87

In terms of pure defensive quality, there are few better in the midfield area than Real Madrid’s Casemiro. Physically and defensively, his FIFA 20 character is outstanding, while he does not want significantly in any area. A real powerhouse in the heart of the field.

#12  Thibault Courtois – Real Madrid – GK – 88

His abilities have come under question over the last few weeks, particularly in light of Real Madrid’s sale of Keylor Navas, but the Belgian is still widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers around. That is reflected in FIFA 20, where he is the third strongest in La Liga.

#11  Gerard Pique – Barcelona – CB – 88

Continues to be a totem at the heart of the Barcelona defence, although he is notably lacking in pace in FIFA 20, with a score of just 56 in that regard. With a defence rating of 88 – the best in the division - and physicality of 80, he represents a formidable obstacle to negotiate, however.

#10  Toni Kroos – Real Madrid – CM – 88

With a pace rating of 45, don’t expect the German to be leading too many counterattacks, but that does not mean he is a player to be ignored. Boasts an excellent passing rating of 90 and is strong in all the other technical categories.

#9  Luis Suarez – Barcelona – ST – 89

The Uruguayan might be past his peak, but that does not mean that he is no longer a force to be reckoned with. He remains a deadly finisher, as recognised in FIFA 20, where he has a shooting rating of 89. As one would expect of a Barca player, he is technically very accomplished.

#8  Sergio Busquets – CDM – 89

The best defensive midfielder in Spain, according to FIFA 20, Sergio Busquets is a defensive monster. Physically and defensively, he is irreproachable and in terms of his technical there is no obvious flaw to his game either. A pace rating of 42 is bound to put some players off, though.

#7  Sergio Ramos – Real Madrid – CB – 89

The veteran defender is the best centre-back in the Primera Division, in the opinion of FIFA 20. Physically and defensively, he is formidable, boasting 85 and 87 in those ratings respectively. He is a strong all-round presence, though, quick and technically assured.

#6  Antoine Griezmann – Barcelona – CF – 89

Barcelona’s marquee summer signing also rates as one of their outstanding players in FIFA 20. The World Cup winner scores highly in all the technical categories and carries with him quite aa bit of pace. Lacks defensive quality – but that’s not why he’ll be in your team.

#5  Marc-Andre ter Stegen – Barcelona – GK – 90

The Germany international goalkeeper is undoubtedly Barcelona’s No.1 and scores especially highly in terms of reflexes, which are rating at 90. Indeed, his overall ability is let down only by his speed, which comes in at a rather sluggish 50.

#4  Luka Modric – Real Madrid – CM – 90

The Ballon d’Or winner of 2018 might have come down from his lofty pedestal since then, but he remains a force to be reckoned with in FIFA 20. Indeed, he is the best central midfield player in La Liga. Although it his dribbling (90) and passing (89) ratings that make him stand out, he is strong in all categories.

#3  Eden Hazard – Real Madrid – CM – 91

Made the move from Chelsea to Real Madrid in the summer, and even if injury has prevented him making a mark at the Bernabeu in real life, in FIFA 20 he is their undoubted Galactico. Posts outstanding dribbling (94) and pace (91) ratings, while he is also strong in shooting (83) and passing (86) too.

#2  Jan Oblak – Atletico Madrid – GK – 91

The outstanding goalkeeper in FIFA 20 is unlikely to make any howlers as he excels at both positioning and handling. The Atletico Madrid star also has excellent shot-stopping abilities and is no slouch technically.

#1  Lionel Messi – Barcelona – RW – 94

FIFA’s The Best Male Player for 2019 is also the strongest player in FIFA 20. The Barcelona star boasts an outrageously high dribbling statistic of 96, excellent shooting and passing ratings of 92, and all this combined with pace of 87, making him a formidable offensive machine.
