Fede Valverde was one of the stars for Real Madrid as they beat Real Betis 3-2 in Seville on Saturday night, as he finally showed fans exactly what he's capable of.
The 22-year-old got himself on the scoresheet and showed the drive and determination that won him a place in Zidane's starting eleven for a period last season.
Valverde has frustrated Real Madrid fans at times with his lack of consistency, and he didn't play a major part in the 10-game run-in last season which decided the destiny of the league title.
Valverde himself was very honest about his inconsistent form when speaking after the match.
"It was hard for me to come back and you have to recognise your downfalls and be critical of yourself," he said.
"I didn't do things like a Real Madrid player should do."
With Real Madrid's policy of not bringing in new signings this summer, Valverde is going to have to play an important role in Zidane's midfield rotation by coming in when Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are rested.
He can play as a box-to-box midfielder and contributes strength and speed to the midfield, which Kroos and Modric don't have in their repertoire.
